Hi
When I print direct from Lightroom my pictures get lots of vertical lines, although if I print from zoombrowser the pictures are fine, what am I doing wrong.

Donna,

Whe you say vertical lines, is this like part of the previous line is being reprint over the last?

What printer do you have?
What settings in LR are you using?

I try help best I can.

the lines are faint and very evenly spaced as if vertical blinds over a window. My printer is Canon ip5200. I have no idea  what settings I am in lightroom, sorry Wayne, I have surely not set up printer settings and I don't know how too. I should maybe go and buy another book.

Donna.

I have a redundant Epson photo R800 which does exactly the same (although prints like that from any program). I spent a fortune on buying new ink as thought the cheap alternatives might have been to blame, also doing several cleaning procedures...

in the end I gave up and bought a Canon ip4500 (was cheaper than replacing the ink on the Epson again!) I havent had any problems but am now only using the manufacturer inks and use it regularly.

Sorry I dont know what did cause it but would love to know if anyone has the answer?

The lines are usually caused by either print head mis-aligment or clogging in the print heads.

I had a problem with my Epson R300 last year and found it was a blocked head - bought some head cleaning fluid and now all good. the cause of the problme was using non-Epson inks. So now it manufacturer inks only and since then had no problems at all.

Hope this helps

hi Wayne, I have cleaned the print heads and I only use canon ink for the printer, as I say the printer, prints fine in zoombrowser and in Canon's own programme.

It is something that I have done wrong, but I don't know what it is.

Hi Wayne,
I might try the cleaning fluid - I got so fed up with the thing that I gave up but it is probably worth a try so I can sell it in working order, although its catch 22 I have to buy ink to test it as it wont work if any one of the inks have run out! It was a good printer when I got it, but like you the cheap inks seemed to have done some damage.

I wont make the same mistake with the new printer.
