ok, you have between now and the first club meeting in September to do this challenege...loads of time.

The challenge/theme is colour, think outside the box though..... what colours work well, what colours clash.....how do they work with light?? How does colour in your image make the person viewing it feel...? comfortable? uncomfortable, happy???????

Here are the rules:-

Produce 10 10 x 8 prints (think about how you will present them)

NO photoshop! You can sharpen, and do BASIC editing only!

You don't need any specialist equipment for this challenge....so no excuses.....everyone can do this!

And hopefully the images will be exhibited some where in town....still working on this...but you guys do good stuff and its about time people got a chance to see what you can do !

Happy challenege :D

Looks like a good offer, but looks like you have to mail in a DVD?

Hi everyone,

well i thought i'd share my experience of getting these prints for the colour challenge. I looked into a few options Dawn mentions colab - but for some reason when i signed up they didn't give me a customer number but you need to type this number in order to use their upload software...and as i wanted to get it sorted tonight i moved on to the next one....Thought i'd check out the one Wayne mentioned...but a) you can't seem to upload at present and b) there was mention of £3.50 deliv charge....After many thoughts of taking them in to the shops i then expored foto.com they cou;dn't make the system easier no need to install software just upload via the browser say how many you want and what size, where to deliver them and pay (supports paypal too!) i ordered 12 12x8's for £9.07 inc vat and delivery

////have no idea what the service will be like but still maybe this will help others that have been scratching their heads.

One downside to foto.com was that if you want to order say 6x4's and 12x 8's in the same order you'd be out of luck....they use groups e.g 6x8 - 12x8's are one group.

Just to say i thought the challenge was really useful. On this occasion I selected photos that i had already taken but it has helped me to 'widen my vision' and i'm sure i will pay closer attention to colour in the future.

I'm up for all the challenges... bring it on!

I agree with David, an excellent idea and look forward to future challenges.

An idea maybe have something like Season with sub-briefs which we pick outof a hat. I thinking a theme for the exhibition here. For example:

Season is Spring - sub-topis from hat could include:
Petals, Trees, Light, Shade, Colour, Macro, Short 24mm only, of 50mm only?, F/4 only, f/8 only?

Thoughts?

I like your idea Wayne as it narrows the criteria for the photo so rather than going out say in the park and shooting anything it forces the photographer to look at specifics, which hopefully should result in greater concentration.

true but lets not also get too restrictive, I'll pull faces if it's macro as I don't have any intention of getting a lens for some time...

I think my original intention of having challeneges was to make everyone think about their photography, the technical stuff and the composition and how they wanted to interpret the theme.... so I htink probably a broad theme so that everyone can choose how they wnat to deal with would work best.... could then catogorise thinsg afterwards..if we wanted to.....

So hold on to your hats for the next challenege............. 8)
