Hi,
Not having any web site knowledge I'm not sure if it would even be possible? But I wondered if there could be an archive area for old posts. There are quite alot now that no longer get posts, they are useful to have on the site for reference etc. But it would make viewing the current stuff easier, maybe? I hate missing out on any new chat so find myself checking for the latest dates to make sure I have read them all, which is getting harder the more subjects there are. Sometime the thing goes blue then I know there is something new but it doesnt always happen, or if I'm checking more than once in the day, it doesnt show new ones.

Just a thought.

To avoid missing new posts/threads. Could we not have the forum open with a listing of new posts/threads? e.g. like Talkphotograghy forum site : http://www.talkphotography.co.uk/

Not sure how you this, I assume you creat a new form and link the treads by date order.

Just a thought.

The forum only shows unread posts since last visit, I think, in this current version. I always use the 'posts since last visit' function every time I log on, but if I don't read them at that visit, they obviouly will not appear in the search next time I log on. However, I find this a really useful tool and only go to the site if I plan to catch up.

I applied some time ago for an upgrade to a newer version which I think will leave topics/forums marked blue if there is an unread post until it is actually read, but am still waiting in a queue of requested upgrades.

We tried auto-deleting old posts/topics, but that idea was not popular because members' images were lost too.

Basically, because it is a free forum for us to use, we don't have have all the possible options, like archiving.

Some good suggestions guys, Gwynith you do a fab job with the forum so I'm happy to leave it up to you as to what can be achieved. The free forums do have certain disadvantages but for what we need its really good, I think everyone that uses finds it really useful.

No, because I did not know it was there. Now I do I will use it. Thanks :)

I agree Dawn, Gwynith is doing a great job. I am a big fan of the forum and think it is a good supplement to Thursday nights. :D

I also use Talkphotograghy forum because there is some good information available. Forums are only as good as what members post onto the site. I would be great to see more members photo's and to share members experiences and ideas.

I find the best way of learning photography is from others.
